The vote provided a clear mandate, catalyzed by concerns that management is leading a race to
the bottom with policies that discourage a diverse, experienced staff, to our clients’ detriment.

Some good news on funding, for a change.
In late June, the Maryland Legal Aid Bureau received notice from the State of Maryland that they would not be awarded the Child In Need of Assistance (CINA) contract to provide legal representation to abused and neglected children in five large jurisdictions where the program currently provides representation.

After nearly six weeks on strike, members of the Legal Services Staff Association, NOLSW/UAW Local 2320 (LSSA) today approved a contract that allows the employees of Legal Services NYC (LSNYC) to return to work representing New York City’s low-income communities.
